GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida finished in its third consecutive tie Thursday when it faced Kentucky. A goal was scored in each half, resulting in a 1-1 tie at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
For the Gators, it was the third straight tie versus a team recognized in the United Soccer Coaches poll. Florida and then No. 15 South Carolina played to a 0-0 tie on Sept. 21, followed by a 2-2 tie last Friday at then No. 17 Georgia. Tonight's tie came against a team receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.
"Three straight games undefeated in the SEC," Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "That's progress for us, but we're still hunting really hard for that win."
Thursday match marked the midway match of the 10-match Southeastern Conference schedule for both teams.
This Evening's Scoring:
Florida struck first in the 18th minute. From the middle of the field, Kai Tsakiris found Megan Hinnenkamp wide above the box. Hinnenkamp settled the ball and then headed end line. Her centering pass found the head of Addy Hess, who just beat her defender at the far post.
"Megan Hinnenkamp does what she does best. She drove down the side and found me perfectly on my head, and I just executed and headed it into the goal," Hess said.
The Wildcats tied the match in the 55th minute when Thalia Morisi headed the ball down in front of the goal line, which bounced into the goal.

On tonight's performance:
"We've gone three straight SEC matches undefeated. I think that there's something to take away from that. I think we've shown we're a hard team to beat, so that's really good. And we are scoring goals, so that's good. This was really a hard game to kind of get into any sort of rhythm so it was a little bit tricky. But at the end of the day, this is why we love playing in the SEC as you can always get a good game. So we'll make the most of the point, hopefully. We've got a really strong Texas team ahead away on Sunday. So we got to regroup and get ready." – Florida Head Coach Samantha Bohon.
