
Gators Open Women's Hoops Season Monday With Home Tilt vs. North Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—The Florida Women's Basketball Team opens its 2025-26 season, Monday, November 3 against the North Florida Ospreys. Tip-off at Exactech Arena at Stephen C. O'Connell Center is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
The Gators (19-18, 5-11 in 2024-25) are coming off of their fifth straight trip to the postseason, and return three of their five starters in sophomore Liv McGill (16.5 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 5.2 apg, 2.05 spg), junior Laila Reynolds (10.3 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 2.5 apg, 0.97 bpg) and graduate student Alexia Dizeko (5.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, .340 3G%).
McGill was named to the All-SEC preseason second team by the league's coaches following a rookie campaign that saw her establish the freshman program record for points in a season (611), and post the second highest season assist (192) and steals (76) totals for a Gators freshman behind All-American Brandi McCain '02.
The Ospreys went 5-26 in 2024-25, and return just four players from a year ago. Sophomore Jamisyn Stinson (7.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg) is North Florida's top returning scoring threat from the 2024-25 season.

Florida and North Florida have squared off against one another eight times prior to this evening's matchup, including each of the last three seasons. All nine games in the series have been played on the Gators' home court. Of the eight prior Florida victories, seven have been by double figures, including last year's 75-47 win. RA Shaya Kyle had 18 points and 9 rebounds against the Osprey's a year ago, while Liv McGill and Laila Reynolds each chipped in 16 points apiece.

It was the fifth straight postseason appearance for Florida.
