Media Day is in the books and the Gators are just nine days away from the start of the 2016 season.

Head Coach Mary Wise and the Gators previewed the 2016 season Wednesday
Gainesville, Fla. -- Exactly a week-and-a-half into two-a-days training camp and a week-and-a-half until the No. 10 Gators open the 2016 season in Eugene, Ore., 26th year head coach Mary Wise and the Gators spent an afternoon speaking to the media prior to practice to preview this year's squad and the 2016 season.
The Gators – picked to finish second in the SEC Wednesday morning – feature nine returners, including All-Americans Rhamat Alhassan, Alex Holston and Carli Snyder. Nine newcomers will don the Orange and Blue this coming season in the form of eight freshmen and a junior transfer in "CK", Caroline Knop.
"It's the year of the unknowns," Wise remarked. "What's it going to be like to play our home matches in the Lemerand facility, what's it like with nine new players, a new setter, graduating your libero and so many big point scorers for our team. But what we do know, is that there are three returning players with a whole lot of experience in Alex (Holston), Rhamat (Alhassan) and Carli (Snyder). It's going to be our goal, just like it was last year, to play our best volleyball at the end. If we can do that, this team has the chance to be pretty special."

Florida volleyball faithful and the Gainesville community will have the opportunity to get a sneak peek of the 2016 Gator volleyball squad Saturday, August 20, at Volleyball Fan Day in the Lemerand Athletic Center from 3-5 p.m. Admission is free and doors open at 2:30 p.m., with the annual Orange and Blue intrasquad scrimmage slated for 3 p.m. Autographs will follow at approximately 4:30 p.m.
