Florida Places Three Gators on Cape Cod All-League Teams

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Cape Cod Baseball League recently announced its 2025 All-League Teams, honoring a trio of Florida Gators in infielder Brendan Lawson, right-handed pitcher/first baseman Caden McDonald and right-hander Christian Rodriguez.
The Gators led all college programs with three First Team Cape Cod All-League players. This year, the Cape League recognized three All-League teams: First Team, Second Team and Third Team.
Gators on 2025 Cape Cod All-League Teams
First Team – INF Brendan Lawson – 3B – Brewster Whitecaps
First Team – RHP/1B Caden McDonald – UT – Wareham Gatemen
First Team – RHP Christian Rodriguez – P – Harwich Mariners
Although he got a late start to the summer, that did not stop Lawson from earning the title of First Team All-CCBL third baseman. In 23 games, the phenom out of Toronto, Canada swatted four homers while slashing .333/.398/.519 for a .917 OPS. The rising sophomore collected three doubles, 13 RBI, 12 runs scored and one stolen base. Lawson was also selected to the Cape League All-Star Game and was a 2025 Cape League Home Run Derby participant.
Starring as a two-way player for Wareham, McDonald made eight pitching appearances including five starts en route to a 3-1 record and 3.51 ERA. In 25 2/3 innings, the righty fanned 17 batters against seven walks and did not hit a batter. At the plate, McDonald batted .256/.396/.477 while mashing six homers in 86 at bats. The Tampa, Fla. native finished the summer with 15 RBI, 15 runs and one steal.
Allowing just two earned runs all summer long, Rodriguez was en elite force for the Harwich bullpen. Across 12 relief appearances, the Mariners closer logged a 1-0 record, three saves and an elite 0.93 ERA. The Coral Springs, Fla. product also struck out 26 batters against nine walks over 19 1/3 frames. That performance equated to 12.1 strikeouts per nine and a 0.93 WHIP.
The Gators return to the diamond in just three weeks with team's first open, fall practice on Monday, Oct. 6 at Condron Family Ballpark.

The Cape Cod Baseball League (Cape League), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the United States, officially formed in 1923, but with roots dating back to 1885. Players from across the United States, representing all NCAA college divisions, are recruited to play in the 10-team league. Teams are located across Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham and Yarmouth-Dennis. In 2024, 415 Cape League alumni appeared on MLB team rosters, while more than 1,600 have done so all-time.
