SHANGHAI, China – After suffering a shoulder injury in the US Open in the beginning of September, fans can finally see Ben Shelton back on the court. Shelton took about a month off from competitions to give his body time to recover from the injury, and set to return in the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
The Rolex Shanghai Masters is an ATP Masters 1000 competition which means that the player who wins the overall tournament will receive 1000 points to add to their ATP score which determines the different ATP rankings.
At the moment, the world No. 1 has changed from Jannik Sinner to Carlos Alcaraz following Alcaraz's win in the US Open. Although there has been a lot of shifting in the top 10 rankings, Shelton has remained No. 6 even with his time off.
Shelton earned a first round bye, but will face off against David Goffin, who is ranked No. 83 by the ATP, in the Round of 64. The two will play at 12:30 a.m. EST on Oct. 3, 2025. The two have only faced off once this year in the Round of 16 at Acapulco, where Goffin came out with the win.
The match can be watched on the Tennis Channel and streamed on Tennis TV with a subscription.
