LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Florida women's soccer team lost 2-0 at No. 4 UCLA Sunday afternoon at the Wallis Annenberg Stadium.

Sunday's scoring:
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Bruins got on the board early in second half when Marley Canales successfully placed her penalty kick to the left of Florida goalkeeper Susi Espinoza at 47:40. The Bruins were awarded the penalty kick after Espinoza received a yellow card.

The Bruins struck again at 58:12 when Delanie Sheehan put in a deflection off Kali Trevithick's 16-yard shot.

The Gators had their opportunities Sunday, sending some dangerous crosses and balls into the box, but couldn't find the scoring touch.

Florida Head Coach Becky Burleigh spoke about those missed opportunities after the match.

"Credit UCLA – they have a very, very talented team. But honestly, I don't think that 2-0 score was indicative of today's game. We got behind them, served balls across the box - we need to be a bit more clinical in the final third. We were able to play through their midfield and I think that is a very, very talented midfield," she said. "There will be some real positives that come out of this. I just think that we are close and these games are really going to help us."

Worth Noting

The Bruins' goal in the 48^th minute ended a 158-minute stretch of scoreless play between the two teams. Last season, UF and UCLA played to a scoreless tie at the Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
The Gators have one more event on their challenging four-match road stretch versus top-five teams. Florida lost 3-1 at No. 5 Southern California on Thursday and 2-0 at No. 4 UCLA. This Friday, the Gators play at current No. 1 and defending national champion Florida State.
Two starting Gators were not with the team in Los Angeles this week. Sophomore defender Georgia Eaton-Collins is with England's Under-21 National Team for Nordic Cup play. Freshman midfielder Ava Kuyken is also back in England for a U19 national team camp. Another starter – Deanne Rose – was sidelined for this match with an injury incurred in Thursday's 3-1 loss at No. 5 Southern California.
