Gators Continue Historic Trends, Lead After Day Two of Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA – Vanessa Pearl continued the trend of resetting the record books on Friday. In the prelims she set two Top-10 times in UF history and improved on one of those times in the finals. The Florida women's swimming & diving team extended its lead on day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The Gators total improved to 854.5 points.
Emma Ball, Pearl, Sherridon Dressel, and Bella Garofalo started the night off with a bang. They combined for the fastest swim in the NCAA this season in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:37.26. Their time is also an NCAA provisional relay standard.
Pearl recorded the fourth-fastest time in UF history in the prelims of the 400 IM with a time of 4:06.89. She followed that up with a win in the A Final and produced a new personal-best time of 4:05.07, which moved her up into the third position in program history. Fertel joined in on the record setting, as she posted Florida's fourth-fastest time and finished second with a personal-best 4:06.50.
Mabel Zavaros added a personal-best 4:10.12 and finished fourth in the 400 IM A Final. Savanna Faulconer added a season-best mark of 4:10.72 and placed fifth. Hannah Burns chipped in with a seventh-place finish, while Leah Braswell finished in eighth.
In the C Final of the 400 IM, Ellie Hatton recorded a personal-best swim of 4:21.92 and placed third. Rosie Zavaros finished in fourth place and notched a personal-best 4:22.31.
Georgia Marris placed eighth in the 100 Fly A Final with a swim of 54.30. Dressel finished with a time of 54.59 and placed 10th.
Tori Bindi recorded a personal-best 1:46.96 on her way to a fifth-place finish in the 200 Free A Final. Marris added a swim of 1:47.20 and came in sixth. Kelsey Dambacher added a season-best 1:47.22 and placed seventh. Braswell clocked a ninth-place time of 1:48.77.
Taylor Ault clocked a personal-best 1:47.22 as she won the B Final of the 200 Free. Jillian Hatch placed fourth with a personal-best time of 1:48.23. Nikki Miller added to the personal bests, with a swim of 1:48.86. Garofalo finished in 10th, with a 1:50.28. Kirschtine Balbuena notched an eighth-place swim of 1:50.83 in the C Final.
Brooke Madden tallied 292 points in the 1-meter final on her way to a fifth-place finish. Elizabeth Perez finished 10th in the final with 256.55.
Pearl placed fourth in the 100 Breast A Final with a mark of 1:01.00. Earlier in the prelims she recorded the fourth-best time in Florida history, 1:00.69.
In the B Final of the 100 Breast, Layla Black posted a personal-best 1:01.93 and placed third. Adrianna DeBoer joined in on the personal-best trend with a time of 1:03.15, as she placed third in the C Final. With a mark of 1:03.37, Ellie Zweifel placed fourth and clocked a personal best.
Ball collected an individual event win, as she won the 100 Back A Final in 52.43. Dressel swam a 52.78 and placed third. Sydney Sell tied for sixth place with a time of 53.86. Rosie Zavaros took second in the C Final with a career-best 55.03. Celi Guzman finished in fourth after her swim of 55.31.
The 800 Free Relay team produced the fastest time this season, 7:08.69, and placed second. Mabel Zavaros led the relay, followed by Fertel and Bindi, with Marris swimming the final leg.
