Won Jun Lee's four-under round boosts Gators into third
NORTH PLAINS, Ore. -- With the help of a seven-under back nine in round two, the Gators sit tied for third entering the final day of the Nike Golf Collegiate.
After shooting even par on the front, Florida tore up the back nine as three Gators finished below par. Freshman Won Jun Lee carded a four-under round including birdes on the final three holes.
Lee and teammate Alejandro Tosti were without a single blemish on the back nine as Tosti poured in three birdies to finish one-under for the day.
The Gators had four players finish in the red numbers on Monday as Gordon Neale, 70 (-1), and Andy Zhang, 70 (-1), joined Lee and Tosti below par.
Zhang (-4) currently sits T13 on the leaderboard, the Gators highest on the leaderboard, heading into the round three.
The final round starts tomorrow morning 11:00 a.m. (ET) from Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course.
Coach's Take
On Las Vegas -- "First off, our prayers and thoughts are with those who were affected by the senseless act in Las Vegas. Scary time for that city."
On today's round -- "We had a fairly non-eventful day until the finish. Ale, Andy, and especially Won Jun had big time finishes to their rounds. Their patience and discipline paid off and puts us in a spot where we can still win the tournament tomorrow. I am actually really proud of our round today. We took a day where we weren't at our best and turned it into something positive. That's a great step for us." - Coach J.C. Deacon
