
Bangoura Claims Doubles Title, Van Overbeek Advances to Singles Final at Kalamazoo

Florida's Sekou Bangoura Jr. (Bradenton, Fla.) has teamed with Nathan Pasha to win the doubles draw of the USTA Boys National Tennis Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., earning a bid into the main draw of the U.S. Open, which kicks off on August 30.
The duo posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Matthew Kandath and Jack Sock in the final on Saturday to claim the title.
Meanwhile, fellow Gator Bob Van Overbeek (Boca Raton, Fla.) posted a three-set win over Denis Kudla in the semifinals of the singles draw.
Van Overbeek, the ninth-overall seed, bounced back after dropping the opening set and downed the No. 2-seeded Kudla, 5-7, 7-6(5), 7-6(4). Van Overbeek advances to the final on Sunday, where we will face the third-seeded Sock. The winner receives a bid into the main singles draw at the U.S. Open.
