The National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA), in association with Hooters of America, Inc., have announced the brackets have been set for the 2003 Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship at Barefoot Resort. Florida is the eighth seed for the event, which will be held Nov. 2-4 in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The 16-team modified double-elimination event is based on the 2003 NCAA Championship finish and boasts one of the strongest fields in the nation. This marks the inaugural Hooters Collegiate Match Play Championship for the women.
Florida was seeded No. 8 and will take on the No. 9 seed Ohio State in the first round. The winner of the Florida-Ohio State match will take on the winner of the Duke-Purdue match.
The Lady Gators have competed against Ohio State once this season at the NCAA Fall Preview, with Florida beating the Buckeyes by two strokes.
UF has finished runner-up in back to back tournaments and have finished in the top four in three consecutive tournaments.
