Men's Golf Fifth at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invite

The fifth- ranked University of Florida men's golf team finished fifth at 870 (+6) at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
Georgia won the Invitational at 854 (-10) and host Georgia Southern finished second at 858 (-6). Nick Cassini from Georgia took medalist honors with a three round total of 210 (-6).
Florida opened the Invitational with a opening round 281 (-7) to take the early lead. The second round was not as kind to UF as it shot a second round total of 296 (+8). The Florida team started to find its swing in the third round as it improved its score to 293 (+5) in the third round to finish with a three-round total of 870 (+6).
Individually for Florida, sophomore Bubba Dickerson (Hilliard, Fla.,/ West Nassau H.S.) opened the Invitational with a 66 (-6) in the first round to grab the early lead. He followed it up with a 74 (+2) in the second round and a 72 (E) in the third round to finish with a 212 (-4) to tie for third place.
Junior Camilo Benedetti (Medellin, Colombia/ Instituto Jorge Robledo) and freshman Camilo Villegas (Medellin Colombia/ The Columbus School) each shot a 73 (+1) the final round. Villegas tied for 30th with a three-round total of 220 (+4) and Benedetti finished with a total of 223 (+7) to tie for 45th. Senior Nick Gilliam (Gainesville, Fla) tied for 17th at 217 (+1) and sophomore Jordan Code (Tampa, Fla.,/ Home Education Program) shot a three-round total of 228 (+12) to tie for 61st.
Florida's men's golf team will have next weekend off before they travel to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico to play in the U.S. Collegiate April 6-8 at the newly opened Vista Vallarta Golf Club. The Jack Nicklaus designed course will open April 1.
