The Gators concluded the spring schedule April 16, look forward to welcoming talented incoming class.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The 21-time SEC Champion Gators, who made their 15th Elite Eight appearance in 2015, will add a wealth of talent to the roster for the upcoming season in 2016. Florida announced six signees to NLIs in the fall signing period, and added three this spring for a total of nine newcomers to replace a class of five departing starting seniors.
The Orange and Blue wrapped up the spring schedule April 16 at home with UF's annual Spring Fling in the Lemerand Athletic Center. The Gators played host to Georgia Tech in the pre-determined five sets.
Florida won the first four sets, played until 25, while the Yellow Jackets took the fifth and final set, played to 15.
A quartet of Gators highlighted the match with Georgia Tech to end the spring semester on a high note, including a second-block outing for soon-to-be junior middle Rhamat Alhassan to go along with a .478 clip on the afternoon.
Rising junior outside Carli Snyder put down a staggering 17 kills against the Yellow Jackets, classmate Sam Dubiel scooped up 11 digs and redshirt junior Shainah Joseph -- just named to the Canadian National Team for the Pan Am Cup -- posted 15 points on 11 kills, two aces and two stuffs.
LOOKING AHEAD
Florida's incoming class has talent. All six Gators that signed NLIs in the fall signing period were named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 list. That's more incoming athletes than any school in the country and tops in the SEC.
Defensive specialist Allie Gregory, setter Cheyenne Huskey, 6-8 middle Rachael Kramer, outside hitters Morgyn Greer and Mia Sokolowski -- an early enrollee already on campus -- and middle Darrielle King all grace the 2016 Girls' Fab 50.
