Florida Women’s Golf Moves to Fifth in Round 2 of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

The Gators' women's golf team made a move up the leaderboard at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La., on Monday. As a team, Florida improved to fifth place, carding a +13 (301), to bring the Gators' two-day total to 598.
Sophomore Maria Torres was a bright spot for the team, as she moved into the top-10, showing her consistency with back-to-back 74s to bring her 54-hole total to 148. Freshman Taylor Tomlinson shaved one stroke off of her Round 1 score of 75, to move up to a tie for 14th place carding a +5 (75-74—149).
Despite recording a 304 on the day, LSU continues to hold onto the top spot, leading UCLA and Tulane by one stroke at the 6,189-yard English Turn Golf Club. The Orange and Blue will get a chance to climb up the leaderboard, when the final round on the par-72 course begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

Thoughts on the Gators' Round 2 play:
“The conditions were tough today. As a team, I thought we hung in there pretty well. We aren't playing great golf but we are certainly showing our depth as a team, and I see us becoming more consistent, which is positive.”
On the tough conditions:
“Today's conditions tested our patience, but I thought we did a great job of playing hard all the way to the end.”
