The UF women's golf team climbed three spots on the leaderboard to claim sole custody of fifth place following the second round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. Led by sophomore Jessica Yadloczky (Casselberry, Fla.), the Lady Gators finished the round with a 303 (+15) for a total score of 612 (+36). Florida teed off from the par-72, 5,907-yard Oak Point Golf Club.
Yadloczky turned in another strong performance, carding a one-over-par 73 for the second-consecutive day. The sophomore is currently in a three-way tie for first place with a two-over 146. She remained even through her fourth hole before making a bogey on her fifth. She continued consistenly, collecting six straight pars before notching a birdie and bogey back-to-back.
Yadlocky wasn't the only Gator golfer with a strong performance on Monday, freshman Andrea Watts (Bradenton, Fla.) also carded a one-over 73 in the second round for a total score of 150 (+6). Watts made a bogey on her first hole but rolled on to collect eight pars and enter the turn at one-over par. A birdie on the first hole kept her even until her 15th hole, where she collected her final bogey. She is currently tied for 15th.
Fellow freshman Evan Jensen (Belleair, Fla.) matched Watts for the most improved Lady Gator, lowering her second round score by four strokes with a four-over 76 for a 36-hole score of 156 (+12), good for a tie for 63rd. Jensen had a rough start to her round, collecting a double bogey on her first hole and a bogey on her third, but rallied back to make a birdie on her sixth. Another bogey and double bogey on holes two and three brought her back to five-over, but she was able to finish on a strong note, making a birdie on her final hole.
Currently in a for 84th, redshirt sophomore Lauren Uzelatz (Lakeland, Fla.) carded an 81 (+9). After a challenging start, which included seven bogeys in her first nine holes, Uzelatz's resiliency was apparent after she collected eight pars and one double bogey. Redshirt freshman Nicole Schachner (Libertyville, Ill.) is currently in a tie for 158th with a 36-hole total score of 168 (+24), after carding an 84 (+12) on Monday.
